Ricky (on my left) me (centre) Daniel (on my right)
I can musingly recall my first brush with Mr Poiceman. I was about 10 years old and playing with my neighbour, Ricky. At that time, he was my play buddy and we stuck like glue. Obviously, we also ran into lots of trouble lor… Ke ke
So my first encounter (or ours) with the law when we were at our neighbourhood killing red ants. We used lighted matchsticks and burnt them to the crisp. It was fun and thrilling… Ha ha… Boh liao rite??? =P
That fine day, without us knowing, Mr Policeman came and tapped us from behind and threw away our matchsticks. If that was not enough, he brought us back to our families and that sure gauranteed a whacking lor… I think last time police too free, cannot catch crooks so they catch kids and baby sit. Ha ha…
Anyway, that would be my first and not my last brush with Mr Policeman whom eventually became a prominent figure in my life. Ho ho

Its 2006 and I have literally forgotten about this ‘extra’ blog. My active one is andrewong2024.blog.com and this ‘extra’ is just where I can doodle about my past.
For this new year, I think I should add an entry. Let me see…. Mmmm… Ya okay!
Still in my Primary era but now in respect to my family… My growing up conditions were pretty alright, there were the regular family outings and shoppings and dinners at home.
But I do remember I got whacked pretty alot by my mother especially. And I mean really whacked lor… The way she whacked me was like she had some sort of whacka sutra manual. Ha ha!
I guess I really ignited her creativity =P
These were the some of the ways she whacked me:
- Caned me with a iron clothes hanger till I bled
- Pulled my ear
- Slapped or pinched me
- Put chilli paste in my mouth
- Had me stark naked outside my home for 1-2 hours (only once)
As you can see, the whackings were pretty drastic… Maybe that’s why I so thick-skinned and resilent now. Hiaks Hiaks… =P

Of coz my primary school life was filled with some crushes here and there too…
There was my very first crush when I was primary 1/2. Her name was Luixin…
Mmmm… she was a petite and sweet-looking girl. Must be her long hair lar… Ha ha….
I can still remember how I tried to impress her once by jumping off one whole flight of stairs just to ’stomp’ on an empty packet drink which would ‘explode’.
Ya may sound silly… but that age, that was a cool thing to do leh… Ho ho…
In Primary 3, there was Weixian…. Hee hee… She was a very studious and good girl. Very popular too. Most of the guys in my class then also liked her. However, she was my teacher’s (Mr Yeo) daughter. So pretty difficult lar…
In Primary 4, there was Meiqi. She was a very brief crush. It was more of a fun thing as my other classmate liked her best friend Xuili. So we just liked both together since it seemed fun and enjoyable… Ha ha…

Enough of the kindergarten years… Nothing much there actually as it was pretty normal as anyone. Just watching TV and playing hard.
It is in the Primary level that much of me was beginning to ‘unleash’…
Throughout my six years in Clementi Town Primary School, what I only and distinctly remembered are the moments of mischiefs and punishments from my teachers. Serious….
I really don’t recall any praise or compliment here or there from teachers. I was never a top student in my studies but neither was I top from the bottom. Most always say that I can study one but too naughty and playful.
Yupz… that’s what I carried on doing… being naughty and playful!
You won’t believe how naughty and playful I was… (to be cont’)

Oops… after rampaging through my ‘old’ albums, I realised I had remembered wrongly about the bag I’d used on my first day at kindergarten school… I had mistaken it for my first day in primary school

So smart rite? But can’t believe I had used such a ku niang bag leh…?!?

One of my most fond memories of my childhood was my first day attending kindergarten school
I remembered how nice and good I felt when I had my new uniform, new shoes, new bag, new hair wet-look hair-style too
But of all the new things, I remembered my bag the most! It was a brown haversack with smurf design
Not sure why till now I remembered that bag, but I really enjoyed my kindergarten phase. Many of my classmates whom I met would eventually become my classmates in Primary school too.
My kindergarten phase was the first real taste of independence too… Unlike my other classmates whom I always saw their mothers waiting for them to bring them home after class, I always went home by myself. My mum who by then started to work, had conveniently given me a pair of housekeys and taught me my own way back home.
The two years in kindergarten, I cannot deny that I always felt envious of my classmates whom had their mums’ arms to run to right after the doors of my class were opened. Deep in my heart, I would secretly hope to be surprised with my mum waiting for me after school. But I don’t think (as I can recall) that ever happened.

The furtherest I can recall of starting my life in this place called world, was when I was 3 to 4 years old, and playing with my neighbours at my housing blocks area of Clementi in the playground or fondly called "see-saw"
Back then playgrounds were FUN!!! You could climb up and jump off from beams and poles that could reach 3 storeys high. My childhood days really evolved alot around my playground back then. Together with my neighbours or ‘kampung’ friends played all sort of games there, from catching (our favourite), playing marbles, building dams & canals (after it rains) to playing golf?!?
We really loved our playground!!! It was our ‘world’ where the adults weren’t around to nag or bother us… :P
These days the neighbourhood playgrounds are built with such boring concepts with so many safety features here and there. No wonder our younger generation of kids are so ’soft’ and ’sissy’ these days and can’t take a little pain or challenges.
Anyway, I really can’t really remember much of my life as a 3 or 4 year old. Just that snippet of me at the playground as mentioned.
